  • Mohamed Salah is Liverpool's latest injury scare ahead of the Carabao Cup final
  • The Egyptian forward appeared to have picked up a knock against Brentford
  • Liverpool will take on rivals, Chelsea, in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday

Liverpool could be without Mohamed Salah for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday, February 25, as their star forward is currently being monitored after picking up a slight knock.

The 31-year-old forward, back from a hamstring injury he picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations, was the star of the show as the Reds ran riot against Brentford on Saturday, scoring one and assisting another in the 4-1 victory.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, disclosed the club’s medical staff was monitoring Salah after he felt an injury in the same area where he suffered the hamstring injury.

The Egyptian was out for four weeks after injuring his hamstring in the AFCON 2023 group-stage game against Ghana, which forced him to return to England during the tournament in Ivory Coast.

Liverpool are unsure if Salah will be fit and ready before their Carabao Cup final on Sunday as speculations among fans is that he will miss the Reds' Premier League game against Luton Town today (February 21).

Klopp addresses Salah’s injury concerns

Meanwhile, Klopp has suggested he could rest Salah against Luton on Wednesday to make sure the Liverpool forward is ready for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday, Liverpool.com reports.

The Reds are already without as many as ten first-team players for Luton's visit, and reports have emerged suggesting the 31-year-old forward would also miss out on the Premier League game.

Salah had aggravated his most recent injury, and Klopp will apparently take no chances with the fitness of the Liverpool forward and will not risk losing him for Sunday’s final against Chelsea.

Salah marks return with a goal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Salah made a spectacular return from injury and the Africa Cup of Nations break, scoring and assisting as Liverpool defeated Brentford 4-1 on Saturday.

The Egyptian forward, who replaced the injured Diogo Jota, had his first appearance for the Reds since the New Year's Day victory over Newcastle.

Salah's goal against Brentford brings his season tally to a remarkable 19 across all competitions.
