FootballClubs That Have Had Three or More Managers in Single Season As Napoli Sack Mazzarri
- Napoli have parted ways with their second manager of the season
- Walter Mazzari was dismissed, with Francesco Calzona taking over
- Chelsea used four different managers in one single campaign last year
Napoli's embarrassing title defence is set to continue after the club fired its second manager this season. Walter Mazzari was relieved of his duties on February 19 following a draw against Genoa over the weekend.
The result saw the coach and players booed off the pitch. The Partenopei are currently languishing in ninth place, nine points from European spots for next season.
Francesco Calzona has been appointed to take over from Mazzarri for the remainder of the season in a statement by club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, with a huge Champions League clash against Barcelona coming up. Mazzarri replaced Rudi Garcia last year.

Sports Brief looks at such cases in the English Premier League.
1. Chelsea - 2022/2023
The first year of the Todd Boehly-led era was catastrophic, to say the least. The new owners decided to part ways with fan favourite Thomas Tuchel in early September and appointing Graham Potter to take over.
Despite an initial run of good form, Potter lost track of the Blues season and was eventually sacked in March. Bruno Saltor took charge of one game, a stalemate against Liverpool, before club legend Frank Lampard returned to oversee the remainder of the campaign.

Francesco Guidolin started the season but was dismissed in October, with the owners appointing American Bob Bradley. Bradley lasted only 85 days before former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement replaced him.
The changes worked to good effect, with the Swans keeping their Premier League status.
3. Aston Villa - 2015/2016
Unai Emery might have given Aston Villa faithful a taste of what their glory in yesteryears looked like, but their 2015/2026 season isn't far too off in memory.
Tim Sherwood lost eight games of the first opening ten games. Remi Garde took over with the former Lyon manager, leading the side to a 0-0 draw against Manchester City in his first game.
He, however, lost his job in March, with Eric Black coming in for the last seven games of the season. Unlike Swansea the year after, Villa was relegated that season.

Football4. Newcastle United - 2008/2009
Kevin Keegan clashed with the club's owners, losing his job in September. Chris Hughton, who would later manage the Ghana Black Stars, took over on an interim basis.
Joe Kinnear took over as the replacement, but after being hospitalised in February, Hughton returned in another interim role before club legend Alan Shearer was brought in. The Magpies finished 18th and suffered relegation.
5. Portsmouth - 2008/2009
Harry Redknapp quit the club to join Tottenham Hotspur just a few months after leading them to the FA Cup title.
His assistant, Tony Adams, took over but only lasted 16 games, collecting only 10 points, before the club decided to bring in Paul Hart. Hart led the Pompeys to a 14th-place finish at the end of the season.
