Following their goalless draw with Royal AM, Kaizer Chiefs interim boss Cavin Johnson, has decried his team's performance.

The encounter was the first league match for both sides as they struggled to string passes together.

After the game, Johnson stated that he was disappointed in how his boys played, admitting that they missed a few chances.

Johnson said on SuperSport, as per iDiski Times:

“But did we play well today? No, I don’t think so. I am not happy with my performance as our team, I think our team is a lot better than what we showed today.
“Yes, their goalkeeper gets man of the match, ja, it tells you a lot, but as a tactician, as a guy who sits on the bench, and watching his team play, and watching what his team went through at training sessions, and how they can play, and how they can be more confident on the ball, ja, we didn’t see a lot of that.
“We didn’t see enough of that, in order for us to, yes we missed the chances, but we should have really, really won the game.”

Khune still on suspension

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs interim coach, Cavin Johnson, has provided an update on the suspension of veteran goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

The shot-stopper's suspension stems from when he reportedly arrived at training in December 2023 while under the influence of alcohol.

Questions arose after Khune was also not featured in AmaKhosi's goalless DStv Premiership draw with Royal AM on Sunday, February 18.
