  • Kobbie Mainoo starred as Manchester United beat Luton Town FC
  • Ian Wright wants the midfielder invited to the English national team
  • The teenager is eligible to play for Ghana and England at senior level

Former Arsenal forward, Ian Wright, has called for the inclusion of Manchester United teen, Kobbie Mainoo, in the next England squad.

Mainoo, who has been a revelation for Manchester United this season, produced another stalwart performance as the Red Devils beat Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.

His outstanding displays have seen him gain the attention of Ghana, where he is eligible to play at the international level due to his parents' heritage.

The 18-year-old has already represented the country of his birth at youth levels, but a decision is yet to be made over his senior international career.

While both England and Ghana are interested in tying him down with an invite, Wright wants Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate to make a quick move on the talented midfielder.

"Kobbie Mainoo has to be in the next England squad. Such maturity in chaotic conditions that we've not seen from an England player in a long time. Impressed every time I watch him," wrote the former England international on social media after the Luton Town game.

Manchester United remains unbeaten in 2024 with the youngster at the heart of everything positive for the Red Devils.

Mainoo scored his debut Premier League goal in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers early this month, as reported by Sky Sports.

Mainoo scores debut EPL goal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Kobbie Mainoo scored the winner with an incredible solo goal as Manchester United left it late to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves were on the brink of sharing the spoils with the Red Devils after Pedro Neto netted in the 95th minute of the thrilling encounter.

However, Mainoo's winning goal was a sheer display of absolute pure brilliance, as the 18-year-old deftly manoeuvred past one defender, executed a nutmeg on another, and expertly curled the ball into the bottom corner of Jose Sa's goal in the Premier League clash.
