  • Nigerians do not want Victor Osimhen to join Paris Saint-Germain
  • The Super Eagles striker is on the radar of the Ligue 1 champions
  • Osimhen is seen as the perfect target to replace Kylian Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain is seriously contemplating signing Victor Osimhen as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who has stated his wish to leave the French club at the end of the season.

Mbappe, out of contract in the summer, communicated his decision to leave to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Tuesday, and the Ligue 1 champions expect him to join Real Madrid.

According to ESPN, PSG sees Osimhen as a prime candidate to replace the Frenchman and is contemplating moving for the Super Eagles star in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old forward - who has just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations while on duty with Nigeria - has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 18 games so far this season for Napoli.

Osimhen, who formerly played for Lille in Ligue 1 and was signed by PSG's current football director, Luis Campos, is still one of Europe's most sought-after attackers.

Nigerians kick against PSG move

Meanwhile, Nigerians have taken to social media to kick against the possible transfer of Osimhen to PSG after it emerged the Super Eagles star was a top target for the Ligue 1 champions.

“He won’t get any attention in that league, Premier League or La Liga move,” @UTDTrey tweeted.

Another fan advised Osimhen to consider moving to England rather than play for PSG.

“He'll win the Ligue 1 make a lot of money of course, but his career won't make much impact in football world. Also, PSG already have Goncalo Ramos so they'd probably be in a competition. The best thing for him right now is to move to England.” @OttonFCB tweeted.

Another fan suggested a move to Real Madrid would be better for the Nigerian forward.

“Well, not bad, but I want him somewhere like Madrid, where he stand a chance of winning the UCL, and a possibility of him becoming a world best player! Baloo d’or for another Africa player is still possible after George Weath in 1995!” @MudashirIsmail1 tweeted.

Reports have indicated that an offer of €150 million could be required to sign Osimhen from Napoli, whom he remains contracted with until the summer of 2026.

Man United keen on Osimhen

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that English Premier League giants Manchester United are keen on signing Osimhen this summer.

The 25-year-old helped the Super Eagles finish runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and according to recent sources, the Red Devils are interested in signing the forward during the summer transfer window.
