  • Thomas Tuchel has come under heavy pressure at Bayern in recent days
  • The German has led the club to back-to-back defeats across competitions
  • Bayern currently sit five points behind Leverkusen on the league standings

A Bayern Munich top official has made clear Thomas Tuchel's future as the club's manager following their Champions League defeat against Lazio.

Tuchel has come under immense pressure in recent days following Bayern's disastrous run of results.

The Bundesliga giants are in danger of ending the season without a trophy, with the reigning German champions currently trailing league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by five points.

The Bavarians' hopes of catching up with Xabi Alonso's men were dented last weekend after they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Leverkusen away from home.

Bayern were hoping to bounce back to winning ways on Wednesday night when they took on Lazio in the first leg of their Round of 16 fixture.

However, Tuchel's charges went on to record a 1-0 dismal defeat, with the result leaving them on the brink of Champions League elimination.

Could Bayern sack Tuchel?

Bayern's latest setback against the Serie A giants had many believing Tuchel's future at the Allianz Arena could be hanging on a thread.

However, the club's director, Christoph Freund, has come out to clarify the tactician's future at the club.

Speaking after the Lazio defeat, Freund suggested that Tuchel's future is not under immediate threat.

"Of course, Tuchel is struggling with the situation, which is very difficult for all of us," he said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
"Our goal is to fight our way out of this together. We’re all in the same boat, we are together," he added.

Tuchel was appointed Bayern boss in March 2023, replacing Julian Nagelsmann, who had been sacked at the time.

According to The Guardian, Tuchel agreed on a contract until the summer of 2025.

Kane accused of turning Bayern into Tottenham

At the same time, Sports Brief reported on a section of fans accusing Kane of turning Bayern into Tottenham.

The accusations came after the Bavarians suffered a recent defeat to Lazio in the first leg of their Round of 16 UEFA Champions League tie.
