According to a report by Italian media outlet The Republica, as per Owngoal Nigeria, Napoli have confirmed that their star player featured in the AFCON final with a stomach infection.
The Nigerian international was still able to play the entire duration of the final but couldn't stop the Elephants from winning.
"In the Ivory Coast, the number 9 [Victor Osimhen] was affected by an intestinal virus, which he should have left behind. But tomorrow's check-up will sweep away any residual doubts," the club said.
"The Azzurri urgently need their leader, and with him, they will be able to return to the past, concentrating permanently on a more offensive module."
