FootballThierry Henry’s Telling Reaction to Being Told Mbappe Has More Aura than Him at 24
- Thierry Henry was hilariously taunted by his colleague Micah Richards on Wednesday
- Richards made a cheeky comparison between Kylian Mbappe and the Arsenal legend
- The pair were alongside Kate Abdo for Champions League coverage
Thierry Henry was left red-faced on Wednesday after Micah Richards hilariously suggested Kylian Mbappe ‘has more aura’ than the Arsenal legend.
The quartet of Kate Abdo, Micah, Henry and former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher is the gift that keeps giving in sports punditry, as they have a tendency to make outrageous banter during live coverage.
This was the case on Wednesday, February 14, and Henry was the target on the night as his colleague Richards decided to poke some fun at him.
Prior to the Paris Saint Germain last 16 game against Real Sociedad, the topic of Mbappe came up, with Micah heaping all kinds of praise on the 2018 World Cup winner.

But he might have crossed the line when he drew a cheeky comparison between Mbappe and Henry, suggesting the PSG star was slightly superior in some departments.
‘Honestly, looking at him [Mbappe], his aura, he’s just… he reminds me of a young Titi [Henry]. He really does. But I think he’s got a little bit more…’ Richards said on CBS Sports.
His statement inevitably led to an outcry from his fellow pundits across the studio, and Richards, upon realizing the comparison he had just made, attempted to make light of the situation.
He added,”I mean style, not as a player – calm down, calm down.”
“Titi [Henry] I wasn’t disrespecting you by the way,”
Kate Abdo pressed Micah to state exactly what he meant with his comments, and the former England international had to double down on his style comments, insisting Mbappe had more style than a prime Thierry Henry.
Luis Enrique denies knowledge of Kylian Mbappe's decision on his future
FootballMeanwhile, Henry, who was taking it all in, was a good sport as he simply exhibited his signature smile before joking, “It’s because I nutmegged him (Richards), honestly.”
It is not strange to find comparisons between Henry and Mbappe, as the former was unplayable in his prime.
Largely considered one of the best exports to grace the Premier League, Henry scored an impressive 228 goals in 377 appearances for the Gunners, per Transfermarkt.
Like Mbappe, he also has a World Cup trophy under his belt.
How the game went
Mbappe and his PSG wads proved to be too strong for Real Sociedad as they claimed a 2-0 win at Parc des Princes.
The Frenchman opened the scoring, picking out the back post from a corner. He returned to the side after missing PSG’s previous game with an ankle problem.
Bradley Barcola made it 2-0 with a neat finish past Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro in the 70th minute.
