Is the Harry Kane curse real?

It's starting to feel that way for Bayern Munich supporters after the club lost 1-0 to Lazio in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie in the Champions League.

With the Bavarian giants in danger of going trophyless for the first time in decades this season, Sports Brief looks at Kane's near-misses in terms of silverware at Tottenham and England.

Trophies Kane nearly won at Tottenham

2014-15 EFL Cup (Runner-up)

Tottenham came close to ending their title drought in the 2014-15 season when they reached the final of the EFL Cup.

They faced Chelsea in the championship match at Wembley Stadium, with the Blues emerging as 2-0 victors. John Terry and Diego Costa broke Spurs fans' hearts, scoring the goals in the final, per the BBC.

2015-16 Premier League (3rd place)

Kane's best chance to win the Premier League came in the 2015-16 season. The big teams struggled that season, leaving Leicester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham to fight for the title.

Unfortunately for Spurs, their championship bid unravelled. They failed to win in each of their last four league matches as Leicester City completed their Cinderella story with their maiden Premier League title.

Kane scored 25 goals in 38 league appearances that season.

2016-17 Premier League (2nd place)

Tottenham mounted another title charge in the 2016-17 Premier League season, finishing second behind champions Chelsea.

Spurs won 12 of their last 13 league matches to finish seven points behind the Blues. It was Tottenham's best-ever finish in the Premier League.

Kane scored 29 goals in 30 league appearances that season.

2017-18 Premier League (3rd place)

Spurs finished in the top 3 for the third consecutive year in the 2017-18 season.

They were far from lifting the title, though, as Spurs trailed champions Manchester City by 23 points at the end of the campaign.

Kane scored 30 goals in 37 league appearances that season.

2018-19 Champions League (runner-up)

Tottenham came close to winning the Champions League for the first time in their history in the 2018-19 season.

Spurs reached the final after recording a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Ajax in the second leg of their semis clash.

They failed to win the big one, though, as Liverpool recorded a 2-0 win in the final, per The Guardian. They conceded an early penalty, which Mohamed Salah successfully converted in the second minute.

Divock Origi sealed the victory for the Reds with a goal in the 87th minute, extending Tottenham's title drought in the process.

Bayern in trouble with Kane

Kane signed with Bayern Munich this past offseason, hoping that he will end his trophy drought in Germany. His move hasn't gone according to plan, with Bayern trailing Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.

They also suffered an early exit in the DFB-Pokal, losing to Saarbrucken in the second round. They are also in danger of crashing out of the Champions League, losing to Lazio 1-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie on Wednesday.

Kane accused of turning Bayern into Spurs

Sports Brief recently reported on fans accusing Kane of turning Bayern into Tottenham.

Bayern's Champions League title hopes took a huge hit on Wednesday with their loss to Lazio.

Kane faces the prospect of ending his first season with Bayern without a trophy, a scene he was familiar with at Tottenham.
