  • Kylian Mbappe will be a free agent at the end of the season and has yet to make a decision about his future
  • Arsenal are rumoured to be in the running to sign the Frenchman as he would want to emulate Thierry Henry
  • Real Madrid remain favourites to land Mbappe's signature, but the two parties are yet to agree on a deal

Alistair ‘Ally’ McCoist doesn’t see any reason why Arsenal should sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.

The former Scottish international has shared his thoughts after the French captain was linked with a move to The Gunners.

Kylian Mbappe is reportedly keen on joining Arsenal, but not everyone thinks that is a good idea.

EuroSport reported that the PSG attacker is willing to swap France for England as it would allow him to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Thierry Henry.

McCoist, who once played for Rangers in Scotland, doesn’t think Arsenal need to break the bank to sign the former World Cup winner.

What did McCoist say?

With Mbappe’s massive wage bill, many teams cannot afford to sign him.

Arsenal, however, are considering breaking the bank to bring him to the Emirates, but the football pundit doesn’t think that’s a good idea. When asked if Mikel Arteta’s side should break the bank for Mbappe, McCoist was emphatic with his answer, Metro noted.

“No. No chance. Not only would you break it, you would absolutely have to obliterate it and destroy it, and once you do that, you know, it’s happening,” he said.

McCoist added that other players would start questioning why they were getting paid so little compared to the Frenchman.

Mbappe signing won’t make Arsenal favourites

The footballer-turned-pundit added that even with Mbappe in the squad, Arsenal would not be the favourites to lift the Premier League title.

“I’d still pick Manchester City,” he emphasised.

Mbappe’s future remains uncertain

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, there is still much debate on where Mbappe will be playing his football next season.

The former Monaco striker has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but no agreement has been reached between the two parties. Liverpool were also reported to be keen on his signature, but his salary could be too much for the Reds to consider.

How Madrid could line up with Mbappe

Real Madrid continue their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe, and the Spanish side are getting closer to securing his signature.

Mbapee is in the last few months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, meaning he is free to talk to other teams.
