South Africa exceeded expectations at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as they finished third, behind the host nation of the Ivory Coast and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The team started the competition badly when they lost to the Eagles of Mali 2-0 in their first Group E game.
Bafana Bafana's journey at the competition ended on a good note, and the nation's success was acknowledged by Hugo Broos, who gave credit to the team behind South Africa's success.
In an interview with SAFA Media, as per iDiskiTimes, the Belgian manager showered praises on the backroom staff, medical team, kit manager, and media officer for their input in the team's success.

"I also want to appreciate the staff, and what I mean by this is – you know, when you accomplish something like this now, third place, people are talking about the coach, people are talking about the players, but nobody talks about all those other people who worked day and night nearly for four to five weeks," he said.
"I am talking about the medical staff. Those people were working until 1 a.m. to get the players in good shape again, to give massages and treatment. They were always there for the players.
"Without them, we would not have achieved our success. Even the kit manager, the security manager and you, Romy Titus, the Bafana Bafana Media Officer, were part of what we did. Without you, we wouldn't have done it."
Broos upset by Foster’s decision
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Broos is upset by Lyle Foster's decision not to play for Bafana Bafana at the AFCON 2023.
Foster missed seven games between October and November 2023 due to a personal matter but returned to full action a few weeks before AFCON started.
