The Nigeria squad received special recognition from President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu after their remarkable outing at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles won after failing to defeat the host nation in the competition's final last Sunday (February 11).

Jose Peseiro's side exceeded many fans' expectations before the tournament by making it to the last day of the competition, but unfortunately did not bring the cup back to Nigeria.

The knockout stage also started with a 2-0 win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and a quarter-final win over surprise package, Angola.

Nigeria then sealed a place in the final after their victory over South Africa in the semi-final on penalties.

The three-time African Champions failed to add to their AFCON titles as they lost 2-1 to the Elephants in the final.
