  • Thomas Tuchel could leave his role at Bayern Munich at the end of the season
  • Bayern could lose the title to Bayer Leverkusen for the first time in 11 years
  • Jose Mourinho is one of the names ringing around the club to replace Tuchel

Bayern Munich could lose the league title to Bayer Leverkusen, ending their streak of 11 consecutive German Bundesliga titles, which began in the 2012/13 season.

Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen schooled Thomas Tuchel’s team in a 3-0 win to open up a five-point gap at the top of the table, further heaping pressure on the former Chelsea boss.

Jose Mourinho is one of the names mentioned around the club that could replace Tuchel.

Sports Brief looks at five reasons the Portuguese is best suited for the Allianz Arena dugout.

Five reasons Bayern should hire Mourinho

1. Winning mentality

Undeniably, José is one of football's biggest winning mentality monsters. He finds a way to win even in difficult situations. He's won everywhere he has managed except Tottenham Hotspur, who sacked him six days before a cup final.

2. Harry Kane factor

The Special One revealed a hidden part of Kane's game during their time together at Tottenham. The English forward won the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker award in the 2020/21 season, playing under Mourinho. An £86 million investment for Bayern deserves one of his best managers.

3. Tactical adaptability

Alonso explained to ESPN FC after the game that he took advantage of Tuchel's predictability of playing with three central defenders if he had them available. Mourinho got a brilliant win over Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League last season with AS Roma. He best understands setting up his team against the strength of the opponent.

4. Short term option

Per FcBayern.com, in the last 20 years, only Pep Guardiola has spent three full seasons in charge of the club. In his career, Mourinho has never exceeded three years at any club. The German champions looked like a perfect club he could spend two years with and walk away.

5. Reputation repair

The former Chelsea boss last managed a top club in 2018 when he was sacked at Manchester United. His reputation has taken a dip since then, and per Bild, he is open to managing Bayern and is reportedly already learning German. This could benefit both the club and the manager.

Why Mourinho is also perfect for Chelsea

Sports Brief also analysed five reasons Mourinho could be perfect for Chelsea amidst rumours he could be open to returning to his former club for a third managerial stint.

Per multiple reports in the English media, Mauricio Pochettino may be asked to step down at the end of the season, with many managers already lined up as replacements.
