  • Declan Rice was the man of the moment during the encounter
  • The midfielder bagged a brace of assists and scored a worldie

Declan Rice had a perfect response for West Ham United fans who booed him during Arsenal's Premier League clash at London Stadium.

The England international made a return to the facility on Sunday for the first time since he dumped the Hammers for Arsenal last summer.

According to Sky Sports, the north Londoners forked out a club-record £105m deal to sign the midfielder.

Rice went on to pen a five-year contract at the Emirates as he became Arsenal's most expensive acquisition.

However, his move to the north London club did not go down well with a section of West Ham fans, who gave him a brutal reception on his return.

It is understood that a section of the home supporters shouted down the midfielder.

However, the Englishman had a perfect response to the boos as he netted and scored a screamer to help his side hammer the hosts 6-0.

SPORTbible reports that Rice registered two assists in the first half to help the visitors go 4-0 up before the break.

A mass exodus ensued soon after before the ex-West Ham ace scored a screamer to make it 6-0, just moments after Bukayo Saka had completed his brace.

William Saliba, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Magalhaes were among the other goalscorers.

The huge win has Mikel Arteta's men sitting third in the standings with 52 points, on level with second-placed Manchester City.

Why Rice snubbed Man City move

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Pep Guardiola finally opening up on Manchester City's failed pursuit to sign Declan Rice during the summer.

Rice was the subject of an intense transfer battle pitting top Premier League clubs, including Man United, Liverpool, City, and Arsenal.

City are said to have launched an £80 million bid to sign the England international from West Ham United.

However, the proposed transfer move failed to materialise, with the midfield maestro finally joining rivals Arsenal.
