  • Harry Kane fired blanks on Saturday as Bayern Munich were humbled 3-0 at BayArena
  • Bayern's defeat against Leverkusen has them trailing Xabi Alonso's men by five points
  • Kane has scored 24 goals for the Bavarians since he joined them from Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane has broken his silence after Bayern Munich were humbled 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Having hammered Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 last weekend, Bayern were hoping to secure a positive result against Leverkusen to increase their chances of retaining the Bundesliga title.

However, this was not the case, with Leverkusen needing just 18 minutes of action to open the scoring via Josip Stanisic.

Alex Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong went on to score in the second half to seal a famous win for Xabi Alonso's side.

According to Metro UK, Bayern's defeat in the Saturday clash has them trailing Leverkusen at the top of the standings.

Kane reacts to Bayern's defeat

After the match, the media caught up with a frustrated Kane to hear his thoughts on the result.

The England international conceded that his side did not play well, citing pressure as their greatest undoing.

"We’re five points behind now, but there are still a lot of games to go. This one hurts, we wanted a different outcome, but we have to focus on, first, the Champions League, and, obviously, the next game," he said.
"There are a lot of games to be played, and we have to try and make up as many points as we can, as quickly as we can," he added.

Kane has been impressive for Bayern since he joined them last summer from Tottenham Hotspur.

The towering striker has already scored 24 goals for the German giants, with his last coming last weekend against Monchengladbach.

Muller slams Bayern teammates

At the same time, Sports Brief earlier reported on Thomas Muller slamming his Bayern teammates after they lost to Leverkusen.

Speaking after the defeat, Bayern's Muller could not hide his fury as he blasted his teammates in an explosive interview.

The German absolved Thomas Tuchel from any blame.
