Ademola Lookman has charged his Nigeria teammates ahead of the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Abidjan on Sunday.

Atalanta forward, Lookman, has been Nigeria's star in the knockout stages, scoring three of their four goals. He scored a brace in the win against Cameroon before netting the winner against Angola in the quarter-final.

The Super Eagles have one last game to win if they are to become champions of Africa for the fourth time.

"Final soon. One more fight. Together," the former England youth international wrote on social media ahead of Sunday's showdown.

Lookman will be looking at adding the AFCON title to the FIFA U20 World Cup he won with the junior Three Lions team in 2017, as reported by the BBC.

The 26-year-old switched allegiance to represent the country of his parents in 2020, and after a torrid start to his Super Eagles career, seems to have settled in well.

Sports Brief also previously reported that Lookman became the fourth Nigerian to score three goals at the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The English-born forward netted a brace against Cameroon before scoring the winner against Angola as the Super Eagles reached the tourney's final.

Lookman has been instrumental to Nigeria's outstanding run at the tournament and will be expected to play a key role in the Ivory Coast AFCON rematch.

Lookman's father proud of son at AFCON

Sports Brief also reported that Lookman's father expressed pride at his son following his dazzling display at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.

The 26-year-old scored the winner as the Super Eagles defeated Angola to reach the semi-final, with a dream of their fourth title very much alive.

Lookman also netted a brace for Nigeria in the Round of 16, becoming his nation's fourth player to score three or more goals in the knockout stages.
