Ademola Lookman scored both goals for the three-time AFCON champions, who, despite having less of the ball, were the better side overall.

Talisman, Victor Osimhen had a hand in both goals, and his celebrations at full-time showed how the win meant to him. The Napoli man scored just once in the tournament but contributed to all the goals Nigeria scored in Ivory Coast.

After the win over the Indomitable Lions, Peseiro urged Nigeria to take the Southern African side seriously.

"We will now focus on our next match against Angola, which is having an excellent tournament," he said via Complete Sports.
"We must take this opponent seriously, so we will continue to sleep early and eat pasta," he laughed. "Jokes aside, all the teams at this stage are capable of winning the tournament."

Angola thrashed Namibia 3-0 in the Round of 16 and have one of the most exciting teams in the competition. They stunned Burkina Faso in the group phase, per the BBC.

Osimhen lauded by fans after knockout game

Meanwhile, the African Footballer of the Year assisted Lookman's first goal and then contributed to his second goal late in the second half.

After the game, teammates, ex-players, and fans praised him. Ghana's Asamoah Gyan led praises for Osimhen on X, as Sports Brief reported.

Fans highlighted the striker's selflessness in the game, having tormented Cameroon's backline with his relentless pressing and physicality.
