However, the Argentine was unable to see out the full 90 minutes of the match after he picked up an injury.

According to SPORTbible, Martinez appeared to have injured his knee, with the setback coming only in his fourth game since his comeback from a devastating foot injury.

Ten Hag's update on Martinez's injury

Ten Hag reflected on the defender's injury in his post-match interview, with the Dutchman describing it as 'bad.'

"It seems bad. We have to wait, make the right diagnosis in the coming days and then we will see. Hopefully it is not too bad, we can only pray," he told BBC.
"He worked so hard to return and now after two games it looks like he has to sit some games out again," he added.

Meanwhile, Martinez's injury notwithstanding, United were able to salvage a crucial win against the Hammers to increase their chances of finishing in the top four.

A goal from Ramsus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho's brace was all the Red Devils needed to see off David Moyes' men.

This was the first time United have won three successive games since October following their previous disappointing run.

Man United to reward Kobbie Mainoo

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Manchester United's plan to offer youngster Kobbie Mainoo a new bumper deal following his impressive performances.

Mainoo has made a strong start in the senior team since he broke into the first-team squad under Erik ten Hag.

The 18-year-old midfielder has gone from strength to strength since then, with his stunning display in the middle of the park earning him praise from fans and pundits.
