Is Rasmus Hojlund finally proving why Manchester United spent so much to sign him?

The Danish star was signed for €73.90 million from Atalanta but struggled initially to find his form with the English side.

As noted by CNN, it took Hojlund 1,000 minutes of game time before he finally scored his first goal for the side, and he hasn’t stopped since.

He finally got his first goal in the league in a game against Aston Villa in December 2023.

The Danish international was again on the scoresheet during The Red Devils’ latest English Premier League fixture against West Ham United.

The youngster, who celebrated his 21st birthday on matchday, scored in the 23rd minute of the game with a fine finish from the edge of the box.

Holjund dribbled his way around a few West Ham defenders, creating space for himself, before firing into the bottom corner of the goal. The goal not only gave his side the lead but also saw him enter the record books at the club.

Hojlund’s stats at Manchester United

Since breaking his duck against Villa, Hojlund has continued to impress for United. The Dane has since scored nine goals in 27 games and also notched up two assists in all competitions, Transfermarkt reported.

Five of his goals have come in the UEFA Champions League, while the other four were all scored in the EPL.

Scholes describes Holjund’s debut goal as lucky

Sports Brief has also reported how Man United legend, Paul Scholes previously commented on Hojlund after his first goal for the side.

The Danish striker scored during a Boxing Day fixture against Aston Villa, after 15 appearances without finding the back of the net.

Speaking after the game, the former Red Devils’ midfielder - Scholes - said the former Atalanta player got a bit lucky with that goal.
