Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has sent a subtle jab to Angola after Nigeria defeated the Palancas Negras to reach the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Before Friday's quarter-final clash, the coach of Angola Pedro Goncalves said they were not afraid of Nigeria despite having players who play for big clubs in Europe.

Ademola Lookman, who plays for Atalanta in the Serie A netted the only goal as the three-time champions progressed at the expense of Angola.

Osimhen immediately took to social media to respond to comments made before the game while also showing respect to the Angolan players.

"Talk is cheap. Na on top of field we go dig am. Congratulations to the team. Onto the next one. Respect to the Angola team," he posted on his Instagram Story.

The Super Eagles will now wait for the winner of the match between Cape Verde and South Africa in the semi-final of the competition, as reported by Sky Sports.

Osimhen urges fans to celebrate Nwabali

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen made sure goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali received the appropriate commendation for his performance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Chippa United shot-stopper kept his fourth clean sheet as Nigeria beat Angola 1-0 to reach the semi-final of AFCON 2023.

Nwabali made a crucial save in the fourth minute to deny Angola forward Mabululu from opening the scoring before Ademola Lookman netted the winner in the 41st minute.

Lookman nets winner against Angola

Sports Brief reported that the Super Eagles of Nigeria continue their good run at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as they defeated Angola in the quarter-final to book a place in the last four.

Ademola Lookman's first-half goal sealed a deserved 1-0 victory for the Super Eagles against the Palancas Negras at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny.

Both started the game brightly, but the Black Antelopes got the first shot on target in the fourth minute with Mabululu's effort saved by Stanley Nwabili.
