Osimhen was the mastermind of both Nigeria's goals scored by Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. The 25-year-old provided the assist for the first goal.

The Napoli striker was euphoric at full-time as Cameroon players collapsed to the ground after their elimination was confirmed.

Amidst all the song, dance and chants, the reigning African Footballer of the Year went to Anguissa to express his sympathies, per CAF.

The two were on the same team that brought Napoli their first Serie A title in 33 years last year.

The Super Eagles face Angola in the quarter-final and potentially Morocco in the semis. Angola beat Namibia 3-0 in the other Round of 16 clash on Saturday, per BBC.

Osimhen shares moment with Drogba

After the game, Osimhen shared a wholesome moment with Ivory Coast and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, as Sports Brief reported earlier.

Drogba and the Napoli mat chatted for a while after the final whistle. Osimhen has always mentioned Drogba as one of his idols. Osimhen will be looking to inspire Nigeria to their fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast.

The striker and his Super Eagles teammates celebrated with their fans in the stadium after their win, then proceeded to sing and dance in the dressing room.

Fans hail Osimhen's display vs Cameroon

Victor Osimhen, despite not scoring against Cameroon, played a crucial role in their first goal. His sublime pass to strike partner, Ademola Lookman, skillfully scored the first of his two goals.

The victory earned Jose Pesiero's team a spot in the quarterfinals.

While Lookman made a notable impact on the scoresheet for Peseiro's men, Osimhen's superb performance has ignited a social media frenzy, with fans swiftly sharing their reactions, Sports Brief reported.
