During the pre-match press conference ahead of Angola's quarter-final clash, as gathered by Sports Brief, Iwobi explained his role in the team and named other creative players in the Super Eagles squad.
"I have been told to manage the ball and keep the ball for my team," he said.
"I mean, you don't really need much from me when you have creative players upfront; there's Victor [Osimhen], Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Simon Moses, there is a lot of creative going up front."
The Fulham midfielder went further to disclose what he brings to the team despite being criticised for not being creative enough in the tournament so far.
"So the role Frank [Onyeka] and I have been told to play is to control the game as much as we can, but first, we must always defend as a team," he added.
