According to Soccernet, an Angolan diamond company, Social EP promised to give the team $250,000 if they beat the Super Eagles on Friday and qualify for their first-ever AFCON semi-final.

Each player of the national team also stands to get $9,600 each if they can secure victory against Nigeria, as Angolan bank Banco Keve has pledged the amount to members of the squad.

The Angolan players have previously received $6,000 each following their Round of 16 victory against Namibia and victory against Nigeria guarantees the team more money and a place in the history books.

Nigeria vs Angola: Head-to-Head

Nigeria and Angola have not met at the Africa Cup of Nations since 2003, and they have not played a full international match since 2005, when the Black Antelopes prevented the Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Point Spreads reports.

The Super Eagles' last full victory over Angola was in 1989 on the FIFA World Cup schedule for qualifiers, a game that witnessed the death of Sam Okwaraji after he slumped during the encounter.

In the group stage in 2003, the Super Eagles and Angola drew 2-2, and three of the last four senior meetings have finished all square.

Ekong wants Victory against Angola

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong has stated that the Nigerian team is hungry to win their forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal match against Angola.

Nigeria secured a meeting with the Black Antelopes after defeating arch-rivals Cameroon 2-0 in the Round of 16.

Ekong warned against underestimating the Angolan team while assuring that the Super Eagles players will compete for nothing but a triumph.
