  • The Super Eagles star was injured in Nigeria's win over Cameroon in the round of 16
  • The Chippa United was seen limping during Super Eagles training session in Abidjan

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili has been spotted in training ahead of Nigeria's quarter-final clash against Angola at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian international was injured in the Super Eagles' 2-0 win over Cameroon in the round of 16 and was replaced by Francis Uzoho as he couldn't finish the game.

The Chippa United goalkeeper collided with former Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou in the second half of the last 16 tie with the Indomitable Lions.

The Super Eagles' next match in the competition will be against Angola in the last eight, and in one of their training sessions ahead of the game, the 27-year-old goalkeeper was spotted limping and working out alone.

There are reports claiming that Nwabili might not be available for the game against the Palancas Negras, with Uzoho being the possible replacement for the Chippa United goalkeeper, according to Premium Times.

Nwabili's limping video stirred different reactions from Nigerian fans on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

"He will be a big player after this tournament ✅ quick recovery brother ❤️"

"This guy is fit to play if he can walk na hand he won use no be leg…. His defenders should help me when kicking the goal kick".

@Daguitarprince2 said:

"You may disagree with me but I feel Uzoho should start our next game to avoid negative history from repeating itself. Mali 2002 Ike Shoromu was injured against Ghana, he wasn't fully fit for semi-final, but we rushed him to the team. He conceded a cheap goal, and we lost".

@theakinrinde said:

"He will play on Friday. This was deliberately staged to confuse the Angolans and let them hope for Daddy Uzoho"

Peseiro Gives Update on Nwabili’s Injury

Sports Brief earlier reported on Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro giving an update on Nwabili's injury ahead of Nigeria's quarter-final clash against Angola at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Uzoho might be the preferred option for the game against the Palancas Negras on Friday.
