  • Thatayaone Ditlhokwe says there is no instability under Cavin Johnson
  • The coach has guided Kaizer Chiefs to 10 points in the last four games
  • Amakhosi are sixth in the Premier Soccer League standings with 24 points

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has quashed any concerns about instability within the team under interim coach Cavin Johnson.

Amakhosi are sixth in the Premier Soccer League standings and five points behind second-placed Cape Town City.

With Johnson at the helm until June, Kaizer Chiefs aims to salvage the season, eyeing the Nedbank Cup and qualification for CAF competitions.

Ditlhokwe, a pivotal player for the team, shared insights into how the players cope with this unconventional setup.

"If you’re a player, your job is to play football; you don’t get engaged much on decisions you don’t have power over. The issue of the coach is the management's decision; as players, we need to keep focusing on doing what we’re doing every day, and everything else will take care of itself," said Ditlhokwe, as quoted on Independent Online.

Despite missing some games due to injury, the Botswana international has seamlessly integrated into life at Amakhosi, starting in all available matches this season. Having joined from SuperSport United at the season's start, Ditlhokwe has earned Johnson's trust, as Given Msimango, Njabulo Ngcobo, and Edmilson Dove are always rotated to partner him at the back.

The club is gearing up for the second half of the 2023/2024 DStv Premiership campaign, set to resume on February 13.

Johnson took charge in October 2023, succeeding Molefi Ntseki after a disappointing start for Amakhosi in the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup, as reported by Sunday World.

Despite concerns about the team's performance, Johnson has steered them to 10 points in the last four games.

Johnson is the ninth coach in the past nine years at Chiefs, aiming to break a decade-long trophy drought.

With 14 more league games, Johnson sees Chiefs finishing in a decent position as achievable. In the Nedbank Cup last 32, Chiefs will face KwaZulu-Natal Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Milford FC.

Johnson gives an update on AmaKhosi’s transfer plans

Sports Brief reported that Kaizer Chiefs Interim Manager Cavin Johnson disclosed Kaizer Chiefs' plan for the January 2024 transfer window.

The Glamour Boys are still silent in the transfer market, while other top clubs in the PSL have added new signings.

Johnson has done a decent job since his appointment.
