- Thomas Tuchel has left the door open for a managerial job in Spain
- The comments came after Xavi announced he would be leaving Barcelona
- Bayern Munich are in a fight with Bayer Leverkusen for the Bundesliga title
Thomas Tuchel has seemingly thrown his hat into the ring to become the next manager of Barcelona.
Barcelona are in the market for a new manager after club legend Xavi Hernandez announced that he will leave at the end of this season.
The former midfielder led the Blaugrana to the La Liga title last season despite operating on a shoestring budget with the club still in crisis.
This season, however, consistent results have been hard to come by, with their recent 5-3 loss to Villareal widening the gap between them and league leaders Girona to 11 points.
Is Tuchel interested in the Barcelona job?
Club President Joan Laporta will now go back to the drawing board to get a new man in charge at Camp Nou. From the foregoing, Tuchel has expressed interest in managing in Spain but fell short of outrightly mentioning Barcelona.
"Moving abroad would appeal to me again. Spain has an extraordinary league. Based on my experience working with Spaniards, they are characterized by tremendous self-confidence. When you speak with Spanish players, I quickly sense that you are engaging with the person," he told SkySports DE.
These comments come at a time when the former Chelsea manager is under pressure in Germany. Xabi Alonso has masterminded Bayer Leverkusen's meteoric rise to the top of the Bundesliga table. Leverkusen lead with 49 points, two ahead of the Bavarian giants.
Managers who could replace Xavi at Barcelona
Sports Brief have also reported that Luis Enrique leads the list of candidates who could replace Xavi at Barcelona. The former Culer is currently at Paris Saint-Germain and could be tempted to return to Camp Nou.
