The match, which was held at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, saw the Super Eagles triumph over the Indomitable Lions and in quite some style. Confederation of African Football (CAF) player of the year Victor Osimhen left his mark on the match as Nigeria secured success against the highly physical Cameroon.

The forward’s aggressive and attacking approach was enough for many to allude that the clash against Rigobert Song’s side was the best performance of the Super Eagles in recent times.

However, as Nigeria prepares for the upcoming quarter-final clash against Angola scheduled for February 2nd, the 25-year-old Napoli forward has made a promise to the fans of the Nigerian football team.

Osimhen assures Nigerians

The influential forward, who has played a pivotal role in Nigeria's success at the AFCON, addressed the media after the intense clash against Cameroon.

Responding to a question about the Super Eagles' impressive and steadily growing performance at the tournament, as reported by Punch News, the forward confidently stated:

"I cannot lie. The best is yet to come, Osimhen assured."
" We haven’t played the best of our football yet, but to be honest, all of us, the whole team, we have this mentality of winning,
"We want to win; we want to help each other, and for me, we are more of a family than just players. So, maintaining this mindset is important to ensure we emerge victorious in every game, while respecting our opponents. We are genuinely excited about this win, and our aim is to sustain the momentum."

The forward's words seem to echo the sentiments of the Super Eagles players, who remain optimistic about the team's chances of securing the AFCON title in Ivory Coast.

Nigerian fans hail Osimhen

In another report, Sports Brief highlighted that Nigerian fans praised Victor Osimhen on social media after his outstanding performance against Cameroon.

The forward, who played a key role in setting up the opening goal of the night, proved to be a constant source of trouble for the Cameroonian team.

Osimhen's exceptional performance was crucial in Nigeria securing victory on the night.
