Nigerian legendary midfielder Austin Jay Jay Okocha has disclosed what the Super Eagles need to have a good game against Cameroon in the AFCON 2023 Round of 16.
The Super Eagles will battle the Indomitable Lions for a place in the quarter-finals on Saturday, January 30.
Both teams finished second in their respective groups during the first stage, with Nigeria struggling to score goals while Cameroon had difficulty keeping a clean sheet.
During an interview with CAF Online, The veteran midfielder, Okocha claimed Nigeria need teamwork for them to have a good performance against Cameroon.
"Well, I think it's all about the team. I think we've seen how difficult this tournament is; they need each other. Of course, we expect Victor Osimhen to score the goals, but it's not an individual game; it's a teamwork," he said.
"If our offensive players can come to the party, I think we should be able to score goals, and that's the area I am expecting us to improve because defensive-wise, we've been solid, we've not been giving out a lot of chances, and we've not conceded a lot of goals, but going forward we still need to improve."
The winner between Nigeria and Cameroon will face the victor in the second round match between Angola and Namibia in the last eight.
