Mauritania coach, Amir Abdou, gave Algeria a hint of what to expect before the two teams clashed at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The French-Comorian coach led Mauritania to their first-ever AFCON victory after defeating the two-time African champions in the final Group D game.
Mauritania secured a place in the last 16 as one of the best third-placed sides in the tournament, making it two out of two for Abdou at the Nations Cup.
He was the man in charge of Comoros when they defeated the Black Stars of Ghana to reach the knockout stages two years ago in Cameroon.
In a video shared on social media, Abdou told reporters after their second game to tell Algeria's coach Djamel Belmadi to prepare before he faces Mauritania.
The 51-year-old is now celebrated for his giant-killing feat at the Africa Cup of Nations, having led two teams out of the top 100 rankings to the second round of the competition, as reported by Euro Sport.
Abdou will be hoping to go a step further by leading the desert nation to the quarter-final of the competition.
Mauritania ends Algeria's AFCON hopes
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that two-time champions Algeria crashed out of AFCON on Tuesday after losing 1-0 to Mauritania, who are 75 places lower in the world rankings.
Mohamed Delllah Yaly scored the only goal in Bouake for the Group D outsiders, who will fill one of four places reserved for third-placed finishers in the mini-league stage.

FootballElsewhere, Angola defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in the same group and topped the final standings with seven points and with four and three points for Burkina Faso and Mauritania, both teams progressed.
Mahrez set to retire from Algeria
Sports Brief also reported that Riyad Mahrez is considering retiring from Algeria's national team after their dismal ousting from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Manchester City forward was dropped to the bench by manager, Belmadi, for the crucial game, but that quickly backfired as the Desert Warriors were punished by Mauritania.
Algeria would succumb to Mohamed Dellahi Yali’s strike near the end of the first half, which was enough to sink the 2019 AFCON champions and send them back home as the bottom team from Group D.
