  • Chelsea beat Middlesbrough 6-2 on aggregate to reach the Carabao Cup final
  • They will face the winner of the match between Fulham and Liverpool later today
  • Boss Mauricio Pochettino is delighted as he could win a trophy in his first season

Mauricio Pochettino is a happy man after guiding Chelsea to the Carabao Cup final in his first season following a 6-2 aggregate victory over Middlesbrough.

The Blues overturned a disappointing 1-0 loss away in the first leg and thrashed the EFL Championship side 6-1 at Stamford Bridge with one of their best performances this season.

They will face the winner of the second semi-final between Fulham and Liverpool later tonight. The Reds hold a 2-1 advantage over the London club from the first leg.

Pochettino sends message to Chelsea fans

The f loss put a sour taste in the fans' mouths, and they called for the manager to be sacked following the embarrassing performance, but after reaching the finals, he had a message for the fans via his Instagram story.

“One more step we pass. Keep the belief,” he wrote.

The fans were not the only ones who got words from the boss; he was displeased with his players for conceding a late goal and not keeping a clean sheet.

“I was really upset because we need to learn from that. We need to play seriously until the end. Sometimes it looks like you didn't finish the game, and you lost a bit of focus,” he said via Mirror UK.
“We are disappointed to concede the goal, but we need to use every single second to improve. It didn't kill my happiness, but I was a little bit disappointed with the finish to the game.”

Pochettino must be wary in the final, particularly if they end up playing against Liverpool, who beat the Blues in two domestic finals in 2022 under Thomas Tuchel.

The West Londoners will play Premier League team Aston Villa in another decisive game in F.

Lampard spotted at Stamford Bridge

Sports Brief reported that Frank Lampard was at Stamford Bridge for his former side’s 1-0 win over Fulham in the London derby.

The last time he was at a game, he was appointed interim boss until the end of last season, leading to speculations from the fans that the Argentina manager could be axed.
