Harambee Stars winger, Ayub Timbe, has signed a short-term deal with Azerbaijan top-flight club, Sabail FK.

"Sabail PFK realized the transition of the next footballer in the winter transfer period. After Madi Queta, our team signed a contract with Kenyan footballer Ayub Masika until the end of the season,” read the statement, as posted on the club’s Facebook page.

Timbe, with a rich background playing for clubs like Genk, Lierse, Beijing Renhe, Reading, Vissel Kobe, and Buriram United, brings a wealth of experience to Sabail FK.

Apart from his contributions to club football, he has been a consistent performer for the Harambee Stars, boasting a record of four goals in 28 matches over his career.

Sabail, a relatively new entrant in the Premyer Liqa, Azerbaijan's top flight, has been making significant progress since its establishment in 2016. The club, currently positioned fifth in the league, with 26 points after 18 games, aims to climb higher in the standings.

The team plays its home matches at the Bayil Stadium, which has a capacity of 3,200. Despite being eliminated in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League in 2019, Sabail FK has been steadily gaining recognition in European football.

Born on September 10, 1992, in Pumwani, Nairobi, Kenya, Masika's journey began in local academies before making a significant move to the Anderlecht Academy, as reported by People Daily.

His career continued progressing with notable stints at Genk, Lierse, Beijing Renhe, Vissel Kobe, and Buriram United, culminating in his recent move to Sabail FK from Nanjing City.

Internationally, Masika debuted for the Kenyan national team against South Africa in October 2012, showcasing his commitment to representing his country on the football stage. His international experience with the Harambee Stars is expected to be a valuable asset for Sabail.

Ayub Timbe Suggests He Regrets Joining Top English Side in 2020

Sports Brief in June 2022 reported when Ayub Timbe opened up about his troubled spell with Reading FC.

Timbe joined the Royals during the winter transfer window in 2020 in a short-term deal from the Chinese side Beijing Renhe.

The winger is said to have taken a massive pay cut to complete the transfer on deadline day.
