FootballLuis Suarez Reacts After Playing First Game for Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami
- Inter Miami played El Salvador in their first pre-season game of 2024
- It was the first game for new striker Luis Suarez with his ex-teammates
- The Uruguayan forward took to social media to share his thoughts
Luis Suarez donned the black and pink shirt of Inter Miami for the first time since moving to the Major League Soccer club to reunite with former Barcelona teammates.
Suarez left Brazilian club Gremio in December despite having a year left on his contract after a failed attempt at capturing the title from Palmeiras, who won it back to back.
He teamed up with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets – all three joined the club in July after ending their time in European football.
The quartet started their first game together against El Salvador in their first pre-season game ahead of the 2024 MLS season, due to begin in February.

The match ended goalless, but the four friends showed glimpses of what was to come, combining beautifully on multiple occasions but could not find the final ball to score.
The Uruguayan took to his Instagram page to send a message to his fans after playing his first minutes for the Herons.
“First preseason game. We keep working,” he wrote.
Suarez, who turns 37 in four days, was signed to a one-year contract by David Beckham’s side with an option of a further year as he nears the final days of his career.
Per Mundo Deportivo, he opened up on his injury problems that could cut his career short, admitting he has been playing through the pains of a knee problem and can hear his body talking to him.
He takes injections and three pills daily; otherwise, it is not his football that is affected but also his walking.

Messi and Suarez combine for Miami
Sports Brief reported on Messi and Suarez combining for a wondergoal but were denied by the El Salvador goalkeeper. The move also involved Alba and Busquets.
Miami will hope to reach the playoffs this year, missing out narrowly last year despite Messi’s influence in the second half of last season. He helped the club win the Leagues Cup.
