Gor Mahia's prolific striker, Benson Omala, has addressed recent rumours linking him to Algerian side, USM Alger.
This is after weeks of speculation regarding a potential big-money move to the North African club.
Omala, currently topping the FKF Premier League goal-scoring charts with nine goals from 18 matches this season, remains under contract with Gor Mahia.
Responding to the rumours, as quoted by The Good Company KE podcast, Omala said:
"It is still a rumour. They have still not submitted their official offer."
Despite the heated rumours buzz, he started in their recent match against Kariobangi Sharks earlier this month.
Amid the transfer talks, Omala expressed readiness to move to the next level if the deal materialises or if another club presents an offer. However, he remains committed to Gor Mahia's aspirations.
Head coach, Johnathan McKinstry confirmed the club has not received any official offer from USM Alger, stressing no official contact had been made with Omala or the club regarding the potential transfer.
"You see, people will report unverified information to attract some attention. The truth is that neither USM Alger nor any other team has approached us seeking Benson's signature," McKinstry said per Citizen Digital.
Meanwhile, reflecting on his previous move to Swedish outfit, FC Linköping City in 2021, Omala revealed challenges that led to his return to Kenya after playing just five matches on loan.
Financial constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic played a role in the decision-making process which saw him return to more familiar shores.

Sports Brief also previously reported when Gor Mahia reportedly slapped a hefty price on Omala's head, to ward off all but serious suitors.
Any club eyeing to sign him will need at least 100,000 US Dollars (approximately Ksh15 million) to lure the club into considering his sale.
Secretary General of Gor Mahia, Sam Ocholla emphasised that the club would not entertain any offers below that amount for the striker.
