- Osimhen scored the Super Eagles' only goal in the tournament so far against Equatorial Guinea
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has hinted at the possibility of quitting international football ahead of Nigeria's clash with Ivory Coast at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The three-time African champions failed to start the tournament on a good note as they drew 1-1 against Equatorial Guinea over the weekend.
The Napoli striker scored the Super Eagles' only goal after Iban Salvador gave the National Thunder the lead in the 36th minute.
Osimhen's performance for Napoli earned the club their first Serie A title in 33 years last season, and he wants to replicate the same thing for the Nigerian national team at the AFCON 2023.
Speaking ahead of the Super Eagles' clash with the host nation, the Napoli striker confirmed that winning the AFCON would be a big step in his life.
"It would be one of the best moments of my life. I did it with Napoli; I made history, but whatever I do, the number of goals I score, winning the Africa Cup of Nations would be a big step in my life," he said.
Osimhen claimed that he might decide to hang his boots on the international scene if he leads Nigeria to victory at the 2023 AFCON, according to a report by Soccernet.
"But probably when I do, I will be done. I am looking forward to winning something with the Super Eagles. I have always aimed high ever since I was a child, and this pressure comes naturally to me," he added.
