According to The Mirror, the 31-year-old has got himself a fresh trim ahead of the tournament which will kick off on January 13.

Salah was initially rocking a much longer hair but has since chopped off some of it.

Daily Star reports that the striker's decision to get a new trim comes after he was unfavourably compared to Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons.

Egypt's AFCON campaign

Meanwhile, Salah's Egypt have been placed in Group B of the continental tournament alongside Ghana, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

The North Africans will be keen to win to secure the crown, having missed out on it in the last edition when they lost to Senegal in the final.

Speaking ahead of the 2023 edition, Salah - who will be captaining The Pharaohs - maintained they are desperate to bring the trophy home.

"I want to win this competition, I would love to win it. It means a lot to play for the national team, it's a great feeling. Every time I step on the field with the national team jersey, it's something I cannot take for granted. I'm just happy to play in the tournament and I would love to win it," he added.
