The preliminary round draw for the 2024 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup is done.

K'Ogalo's last FKF Cup triumph was in 2021 against arch-rivals, AFC Leopards.

As reported by The Nation, defending champions, Kakamega Homeboyz will welcome Solian City as Bankers KCB FC take on Michael Olunga's Football Academy (MOFA).

Homeboyz clinched the title in 2023 in a tough 1-0 victory over Tusker FC, securing their first-ever qualification to continental football.

Tusker FC, on the other hand, is set to play Bumbani Stars, while AFC Leopards will tackle PAC University. Kariobangi Sharks will face off against Nyamira Super Eagles.

The winner of the tournament, set to kick off on Saturday, February 24, will represent Kenya in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup.

The knockout competition will feature 38 teams, including 14 FKF Premier League clubs, 6 FKF National Super League clubs, 4 FKF Division One clubs, and 14 regional clubs, as reported by the FKF.

Premier League sides Posta Rangers, Bandari FC, FC Talanta, and Kenya Police FC will enter the competition in the preliminary round alongside lower-tier clubs.

Matches for the preliminary round are set for January 27 and excitement is already building among the fans.

Four top-flight clubs to miss FKF cup

Sports Brief also previously reported that four Kenyan top-flight clubs would miss the 2024 FKF Cup, allowing smaller clubs to leave their mark.

Nzoia Sugar, Muhoroni Youth, Murang'a Seal, and Nairobi City Stars will not play in the tournament, with the grand finale scheduled for June 6.

Despite these notable withdrawals, the 2024 FKF Cup promises to be fiercely contested with the participation of 14 FKF Premier League clubs.
