FootballBarcelona Fan Account Causes a Stir by Suggesting Frank Lampard as a Possible Successor to Xavi
- Frank Lampard has been without a job since his last stint at Chelsea FC ended in 2023
- Barcelona fans believe that the club need to replace Xavi after their latest 4-1 humbling
- Fans of the Spanish side are open to a new manager, except former Chelsea boss Lampard
Should Frank Lampard be given a chance to coach FC Barcelona?
If you ask fans of the Blaugrana that question, the answer would be a resounding no.
While Xavi remains the boss of the Spanish side, questions have been raised over whether he should be replaced following their latest defeat.
As noted by The Guardian, Barca were beaten 4-1 by their rivals in the Supercopa de Espana final, with Vinicius Junior grabbing a first-half hat-trick.
After the game, Managing Barca took to X (formerly Twitter) to pose the question about who should replace Xavi.
The account shared photos of four managers who are currently free agents, asking which one the fans preferred.
While Joachim Löw, Hansi Flick and Antonio Conte were still considered reasonable options by supporters, many couldn't understand why Frank Lampard was on the list.
The former England international has been unemployed since leaving Chelsea in June 2023, where he served as interim manager.
Before that, Lampard was sacked by the Blues in 2021 and was also sacked by Everton for poor performances.
Barca fans reject Lampard idea
While the former England international can't seem to find a new job in the English leagues, fans in Spain don't want him to coach their side either. Supporters who commented on Managing Barca's post expressed disbelief that Lampard would even be in the conversation and weren't afraid to share their thoughts.
