Garry Rodrigues starred for the Islanders, scoring the match-winner in the 92nd minute.

Ghanaian fans are not losing hope, though, citing Argentina as an example that a turnaround can be achieved despite losing the group opener.

They continued their winning run in the knockout rounds, beating Australia, Netherlands, Croatia, and France to win their third World Cup title, per Yahoo Sports.

Ghana fans want an Argentina-like revival

Ghana fans are drawing inspiration from Argentina’s title run, saying the Black Stars can do the same at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Emmanuel Akosah Brempong wrote that Argentina lost its first game at the World Cup and Ghana lost its first game at the AFCON. He later asked: “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

Angel Topedo wrote: “I see where this is going. We are going to replicate Argentina’s journey in the World Cup. This AFCON is for Ghana!”

Another user wrote that he had seen this script before and Ghana are winning the AFCON.
