Andre Onana faced intense scrutiny regarding his participation in the 2023 AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire.
The Manchester United goalkeeper is part of Cameroon's 27-man squad set to face Guinea in their first Group C game on January 15.
According to BBC, the shot-stopper returned to the national team back in September, months after he was suspended for 'disciplinary reasons' during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Despite the commencement of the Africa Cup of Nations, Onana received permission to postpone his return to Africa for international duty, as Manchester United reached an agreement with the Cameroonian FA.
According to SPORTbible, Onana and Cameroon officials agreed that he would remain with United until January 14.
And now it appears that the former Inter Milan custodian is poised to represent his country in the continental championship.
Onana heads to AFCON
A video posted on X (formerly Twitter) showcased the Manchester United goalkeeper on what was reported to be a chartered flight en route to Cameroon's base in Yamoussoukro.
Following a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, Onana promptly boarded his flight, continuing on his journey to join the Cameroon national team.
Cameroon is scheduled to kick off its campaign against Guinea on Monday, January 15, at 17:00 GMT.
Onana has experienced a challenging start at Old Trafford since his transfer from Inter Milan in the recent offseason, marked by a series of notable mistakes and difficulties.
