Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos faced a chorus of boos with each touch of the ball during the match against Atletico Madrid, and the reason behind it becomes apparent.

Kroos entered the game as a substitute as Real Madrid triumphed 5-3 over Atletico, securing their spot in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The intense contest, held in Saudi Arabia, concluded 3-3 in regular time, with Real finding the net twice in extra time to solidify their spot in the upcoming final on Sunday.

Entering the match in the 67th minute, Kroos faced disapproval from the crowd every time he touched the ball. Fans even expressed delight when he slipped while attempting a pass.

This reaction from supporters followed his critical remarks about the arrival of new talent in the Saudi Pro League, per Diario AS.

The German midfielder pointed to financial incentives as the primary factor motivating players to depart from Europe to the Middle East.

Fans at the Al Awwal Stadium expressed their disapproval of Kroos on Wednesday, holding his statement against him during the match.

Toni Kroos calls Veiga move ‘shameful’

Kroos expressed strong disapproval of Gabri Veiga's move from Celta Vigo to Al Ahli, labelling the transfer as "embarrassing" on social media.

In a subsequent interview, he further criticized the Saudi Pro League, asserting that the transfers in the league are primarily motivated by financial considerations.

"It is said that the football there is ambitious, but it all revolves around money. In the end, it is a decision for money and against football," he said vis Sportbible.

Kroos responds to crowd's jeers

The outspoken German didn't hold back his emotions, taking to Twitter shortly after the game's conclusion, where Madrid ultimately emerged victorious with a 5-3 scoreline, securing their spot in the final.

He remarked: "That was fun today. Amazing crowd."

Veiga hits back at Kroos blasts

Sports Brief earlier reported on Gabri Veiga responding to the criticism from Real Madrid stalwart Toni Kroos regarding his choice to join the Saudi Pro League.

Despite enjoying a breakthrough season in La Liga with Celta Vigo in 2022/23, Veiga opted to make the move to Al-Ahli. Notably, the Saudi Pro League has successfully secured the signatures of several prominent football figures this year.
