Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumemelng Khune, has been among Amakhosi's on-field highlights while he works at resolving his disciplinary issues.

The 37-year-old legend will be passing over the torch in the not-too-distant future but can rest soundly knowing the Naturena conveyor belt is stacked with promise.

At 20 years his junior, Mfundo Vilakazi was the creme of the emerging crop at the Carling Knockout All-Star exhibition match.

The 17-year-old's admittedly fortunate free-kick sent his confidence through the roof, which he then majestically built upon throughout the rest of the 90 minutes.

In the week after his high, he was seen parading around his neighbourhood, appearing to show off a new Volkswagen GTI, as well as his All-Star medal.

Instagram urged the young man to enjoy his success, with user ngcobostanley posting:

"God says celebrate all your achievements no matter how big or small."

Khune acknowledged the role played by the DStv Diski Challenge in giving players a stepping stone to the top tier. He insisted the young players must not be too eager but mature naturally on the pitch. TimesLive quoted Khune, saying:

“I also had a dream when I was a youngster. Mfundo has to work hard. He mustn't lose hope because his time will come. He needs to be patient with himself and when the time is right, the opportunity will come his way."
