  • Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly weighing up a swoop for Africa's in-form coach
  • A Zimbabwean coach has won nine consecutive league tiles in two countries
  • Cavin Johnson has impressed and will be in charge until the end of the season

Success is a prerequisite when enticing the Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs may have settled on Cavin Johnson until the end of the season but planning is still underway for a successor to the interim boss.

The club's most recent managerial link has come in the shape of Zimbabwean veteran, Callisto Pasuwa, who is currently on an impressive streak.

The 53-year-old has just won the Malawian league with Nyasa Big Bullets, having done so for the fifth time in succession.

Prior to that, Pasuwa won the Zimbabwean league with Dynamos four times in a row, placing his personal tally at nine consecutive domestic titles.

Gibson Mahachi, Pasuwa's agent, confirmed interest from within South Africa but stated that Richards Bay had been the most engaging on the matter.

With his impressive streak, the Zimbabwean has also attracted interest from Uganda. However, ZimEye reported that Bullets' Chief Administrator said that he was still under contract and would be going nowhere.

Pasuwa has international experience too, having guided Zimbabwe to the 2017 AFCON. Speaking to The Nation, he dismissed talks of a move, saying:

"Remember, I still have a year left on my contract and I have to fulfil it. If anything, I will have to talk to Bullets management."

Whether Johnson earns a permanent contract or Chiefs find a name that satisfies the fans, former AmaKhosi midfielder, Tinashe Nengomahsa said the job would be tough. He told FARPost:

"This is a club that is known for its intense pressure. Even a local superstar can fail to do well because of that pressure. I witnessed that so many times."
