Shabana FC have ended their coaching search by appointing former Tusker and Gor Mahia legend, Sammy Omollo 'Pamzo', as the new head coach.

Having been without a job since parting ways with Kenya Police in December 2022, Pamzo will aim to lead Shabana out of their current rut and elevate them to a prominent position in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

The former player has been appointed to fill the vacancy left by the dismissal of Sammy Okoth in November 2023.

Former Gor Mahia defender, Oscar Kambona served as interim coach while the club searched for a new tactician.

Pamzo, who guided Tusker FC to a Premier League title in 2011, faces the task of orchestrating a turnaround for Shabana, who have struggled since their return to the top flight.

The club expressed confidence in Pamzo's appointment, citing his extensive experience and successful coaching history with Tusker FC, Posta Rangers, and Kenya Police.

"Sammy Omollo brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and a proven track record in the realm of football coaching," the club stated on their Twitter handle.

Shabana has faced challenges in the current season, securing only three wins and nine defeats, placing them in 17th on the log with only 14 points, just above bottom-placed Nzoia Sugar.

Pamzo's tenure kicks off at Sudi Stadium on Sunday, January 14, against fellow strugglers - Nzoia Sugar.

Elizaphan Kerama, Secretary General of Shabana FC, called on all stakeholders to support Pamzo, stating his appointment marked a pivotal moment in the club's history.

"With Mr. Omollo at the helm, we are poised to scale new heights of success and uphold the spirit of excellence that defines Shabana FC," Kerama stated, as quoted by Capital Sports.

‘Zico’ Otieno takes helm at Sofapaka

Sports Brief also previously reported on Sofapaka officially announcing Zedekiah Otieno's appointment as their new head coach.

The club's decision was seen as a strategic move to stabilise their efforts after a challenging start to the 2023/24 campaign.

In a statement, Sofapaka uttered their enthusiasm about the new appointment and believed Otieno was the right man for the job.
