  • Victor Osimhen recently tore into the agent of a Napoli teammate over a claim
  • The Super Eagles superstar took to social media to express sheer displeasure
  • Fans on social media have decided to make the entire situation into a 'meme'

Victor Osimhen took matters into his own hands, expressing his discontent with Mamuka Jugeli, the agent of his teammate and Napoli strike partner, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Jugeli recently made a claim in the media, suggesting the Nigerian forward would be moving to Saudi Arabia after the current 2023/24 season.

That comment sparked concerns among the fanbase, given Osimhen's recent contract extension with the Serie A champions in December last year.

In response to Jugeli's claim, Osimhen took to his Instagram Story to criticise the Georgian football agent, stating:

"Dear Mamuka Jugeli, you are a piece of filth and a disgrace."

He also expressed embarrassment at the agent's apparent 'lack of reasoning', using some 'colourful' language to emphasise his point:

"KEEP MY NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!"

Amid the ensuing controversies sparked by Jugeli's statement, Roberto Calenda - the agent of the Nigerian forward - issued an official statement.

In response to the controversy, the Italian agent shared his thoughts on his social media platform, throwing a subtle shade at Jugeli:

"Everyone should reflect on their own affairs and show respect for the work of others. It's not appropriate to discuss the future of fellow players."

Calenda also stated the comments had created unnecessary issues for Osimhen among the Napoli fans, with the remarks 'devoid of any basis in reality'.

"We have recently finalised a contract renewal, and Victor's sole focus, besides the Africa Cup of Nations, is to contribute to Napoli. Anything else is baseless."

The words by Calenda appear to be an attempt to calm what was shaping up to be a rift between Osimhen and his Napoli teammate Kvaratskhelia.

Fans' reaction to Osimhen's agent statement

However, it appears a few fans were all out for the banter and have magnified the subtle shades embedded in the words of Osimhen's agent.

@bade_UTD expressed his reaction, stating:

"To be honest, Africa's top footballer, Kvaratskheli, is only in the top 30 in his own continent."

@nocapfelix, seemingly enjoying the banter, commented:

"This is the team that thinks they can beat Barca?? 🤣"

@MmoaNkoaaa, a fellow Barcelona fan, saw an opening:

"They should keep having misunderstandings until we thrash them seven next month."

@ry_anom, commenting on Osimhen's rumoured links to the Premier League, stated:

"Chelsea fans will be thinking he will play for them now 😭😂."

@tosin_olaluwoye summed it up humorously, stating"

"Summary: Osimhen no gree for anybody💪💪💪."

In the meantime, Osimhen will shift his immediate focus to helping Nigeria clinch the highly coveted Africa Cup of Nations crown in Ivory Coast.

Arsenal legends wants Osimhen at Chelsea

Sports Brief also previously reported that an Arsenal icon, Emmanuel Adebayor, has tipped Victor Osimhen to join Premier League club, Chelsea.

The 39-year-old stressed that the Napoli star was the missing piece in Mauricio Pochetinno’s puzzle as the Blues struggle for any consistency.

Adebayor further stated that Osimhen would fit into the demands at Stamford Bridge and could continue the legacy of the legendary Didier Drogba.
