The opening goal of the encounter game as early as the 9th minute following a great header from the Karim Benzema who latched onto a delightful ball from Vazquez. That goal certainly eased any nerves for Zidane and his side.

The visitors would have equalized in the 25th minute but Plea dunk the ball wide with just the keeper to beat.

Benzema then made it 2-0 in the 35th minute with another sublime header way too easy for the Frenchman as Rodrygo floated over an inviting cross. Poor marking from the German side and the striker nodded home.

Real Madrid took the two-goal lead into the tunnel at half-time, but the first shot on target from the visiting side came in the 52nd minute of action as the ball was blazed high and over the hosts' crossbar.
