National Division One side GFE 105 encountered a distressing incident on Sunday, January 7, 2024, when their team van caught fire on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
This was after a goalless draw against St Joseph Youth FC in a local league match.
No injuries were reported.
The club, however, now grapples with a weighty financial setback as the van, valued at Ksh4.5 million, as reported by Pulse Sports, was reduced to ashes.
The nighttime accident forced players and staff to evacuate the burning vehicle hastily.
"On Sunday, on our way from Nakuru after playing our match against St Joseph FC, our van caught fire and was completely burned down together with the balls and boots," the club said in a Facebook post.
Despite the shock, the club expressed gratitude that no players were hurt, with their focus shifting to their next game at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium against Sunderland Naivasha Football Club.

The club boasts a history filled with notable achievements, with a standout moment in 2020 when they triumphed over FKF-PL champion Gor Mahia in the FKF Cup quarterfinal.
However, their path has been marked by challenges, including relegation from the NSL to Division One and even Division Two.
