  • Liverpool have been dealt another injury blow ahead of a gruelling, title race
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be out for “a few weeks” with a knee issue
  • The Reds sit three points clear at the top of the table

Football fans have expressed concerns over Liverpool’s squad depth after the Reds suffered another blow in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury.

The Merseysiders are already dealing with absentees Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo, who have departed the club for international duty.

In addition, Jurgen Klopp’s side already has big names out with injury, including Thiago, Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson. Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is also out with a hamstring problem.

As reported by BBC, Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders confirmed Alexander-Arnold was the latest player to join the players on the sidelines with an apparent knee issue.

According to Ljinders, the right-back hurt his knee during Liverpool’s last outing, a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup.

"Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game so he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover," he said.
"He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let's see after that."

Can Liverpool cope with the injuries?

All factors considered, this is the last thing Jurgen Klopp’s team needs.

Liverpool is the only team in the English top flight still competing in all four competitions, and they have a genuine shout at all of them: the Premier League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

With a string of games coming up, Klopp might find it hard to cope, especially with a squad that looks depleted in the full-back positions.

On social media, fans claimed Alexander-Arnold’s injury could hurt Liverpool’s chances in the title race.

Liverpool’s next five fixtures

Alexander-Arnold will definitely miss his team’s next game, a Carabao Cup clash against Fulham on Wednesday, January 10.

This will be followed by a Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on January 21 before Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Craven Cottage for their second-leg Carabao clash against Fulham three days later.

According to the Liverpool website, the Merseysiders will then play their FA Cup fourth-round tie before welcoming Chelsea on the last day of January for a Premier League cracker.

Salah’s agent on Egyptian’s future

Elsewhere, Mohamed Salah’s agent delivered an update on the star’s future amid talks of a possible Liverpool exit.

As Sports Brief reported, Ramy Abbas Issa replied to a post on social media which suggested Kylian Mbappe could move to Liverpool in the event the Reds lost Salah.

Salah has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, which is growing in popularity.
