FootballMohammed Kudus: Why West Ham Star is Still Missing From Ghana's Pre AFCON Camp
- West Ham's Mohammed Kudus has finally arrived in Ghana
- The West Ham star is yet to join his Black Stars teammates
- The Black Stars will meet Namibia in a friendly on Monday
West Ham United star, Mohammed Kudus is yet to report to Ghana's pre-AFCON camp with five days before the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The 23-year-old is reportedly in Ghana but is said to be staying in Accra with the team camping in Kumasi, where training has been intensive.
According to the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, Kudus is on medical rest, sparking concern.
Asante Twum spoke to GTV about the Ghanaian midfielder, as quoted by Ghana Soccernet:
"Mohammed Kudus is in Accra ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. According to the Technical Team, he needs rest after picking up a strain. He will join the team before they depart for the AFCON."
His absence has raised fears among fans of the Black Stars, who believe he is the man to make a difference for Ghana in Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, West Ham manager, David Moyes wanted the Ghanaian to feature in the game against Brighton and Hove Albion before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations.
"It’s been a fair programme for this time of year for what it could be, but our programme before that wasn’t overly fair. You could argue about fairness in terms of not being able to play Mohammed Kudus or Nayef Aguerd tonight, but other teams could play their African players," he told West Ham TV.
Kudus will miss Ghana's pre-AFCON friendly against Namibia on Monday.
The four-time African champions, who have been drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique, will leave for Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

FootballSports Brief previously reported that David Moyes expressed disappointment after Mohammed Kudus was not allowed to feature in the Premier League game against Brighton.
The 23-year-old was named in Ghana's final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was expected to report to the training camp on Tuesday, the same day as the EPL match.
Kudus was thus unable to feature for the Hammers after the Ghana FA requested his release for his national duties and he was later reported to be struggling with a minor injury.
