  • Bastian Schweinsteiger has channelled his inner supercomputer
  • The ex-Man United star picked winners of EPL, UCL and others
  • He believes Aston Villa will beat Man City to Premier League crown

Retired professional footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger has turned into a 'soothsayer', offering his final forecasts for various major competitions in 2024.

Known for his commanding presence in the midfield during his time at Bayern Munich and Manchester United, Schweinsteiger's predictions may appear audacious, but his wealth of experience spanning nearly two decades in the sport lends credibility to his choices.

Schweinsteiger's fearless predictions for 2024

In the realm of predicting sports outcomes, we're used to machines like the Supercomputer or even animals like the renowned Octopus Paul making calls on tournament winners.

However, the former Germany international has now taken a shot at the crystal ball, as cited by Eurofoot.

Bayern to win Bundesliga, UCL

Notably, the 39-year-old favoured his old club to clinch the Bundesliga title, despite Bayern Munich currently trailing behind Xabi Alonso's swashbuckling Bayer Leverkusen side, who have soared through 16 games unbeaten, per Daily Mail.

Additionally, his UEFA Champions League prediction was a nod towards Thomas Tuchel's squad, tipping them to outshine Manchester City and claim the prestigious European championship.

Aston Villa to do a Leicester City

In a surprising twist, Schweinsteiger, who does not appear to be a fan of Man City, bypassed the Citizens, Arsenal, and Liverpool to endorse Unai Emery's Aston Villa as the potential Premier League victors.

Aston Villa boasts a rich history, once dominating English soccer in the late 1890s and early 1900s, according to Fansided.

Despite their last league win being in the 1980–81 season, after a lengthy drought of 71 years, the former midfield metronome believes in their resurgence.

Leverkusen and England to exorcise title ghosts

While hesitant about Bayer Leverkusen's Bundesliga chances, he backed them to triumph in the Europa League.

His final forecast showcased a departure from national loyalty, favouring England, not Germany, to seize Euro 2024 glory.

Germany will be hosting the rest of Europe this summer, and considering the pool of talent available to Gareth Southgate and recent performance at major tournaments, it was a no-brainer that he chose the Three Lions.

Supercomputer predicts EPL winner

In a related publication, Sports Brief reported that a supercomputer has predicted a new Premier League title winner for the 2023–24 campaign following Manchester City's recent slump.

According to a prediction made by Euro Club Index and cited by Sportbible, Liverpool have been backed to be crowned English champions this season.
