- The Glamour Boys are still being linked with ex-Al Ahly boss Pitso Mosimane
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender has backed Cavin Johnson to remain the coach of the AmaKhosi amid the club's links with ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane.
Johnson has been in charge of Chiefs since the departure of Molefi Ntseki late last year.
The former AmaZulu coach is working on an interim basis, with the club board still on the lookout for a permanent manager.
In an interview with FARPost, The Glamour Boys' former player David Kannemeyer has claimed that Johnson deserves another year as Kaizer Chiefs' boss amid the club's link with Mosimane.
"Kaizer Chiefs will not be thinking straight if they look for another manager," he said.
"Why go for another coach while he is still there now? I think they should just give him a permanent job and trust him.
"Why go look outside? They have changed coaches in the last nine years, and it didn't work.
"Obviously, it is not the coaches, but a bigger problem is within the group. Is the group good enough?"
Kannemeyer also warned the players to keep working hard and be patient despite their excellent start under Johnson.
"It is a good start for Kaizer Chiefs, but there is still a long way to go," he added.
"I do not think the fans must get excited; the coach said it himself. The players must stay calm and keep on working hard. Hopefully, Johnson can bring in more [good] results."

Sports Brief also previously reported that Pitso Mosimane has explained the challenge he faces in taking up the vacant coaching role at Kaizer Chiefs.
